At the midday, same hour, in these 2 beaches, the thermal wind comes and increases steadily until late afternoon. In Vassiliki this phenomenon is impressive. The power of wind is about 4 to 5 bft, 6-7 and 8 bft in good days. Vassiliki is an ideal surf place for slalom and freestyle of side shore conditions. There you will find many windsurfing schools and specialised shops.


The lovers of wave will also adore Aghios Giannis beach with almost the same statistics but different conditions inside water. The waves are amazing for those who seek great excitement



The beach of Vassiliki is one of the 10 best beaches worldwide and the 3rd best in Europe together with the beach of Aghios Ioannis, covering almost all needs of windsurfing lovers.


Next to the Aghios Ioannis beach, you will meet Mylous, one of Lefkada’s beaches where you will find many fans of Kite surf. This new extreme sports is hosted every summer in Mylos beach where the races of Kite Surf Open, are organised from the Prefecture’s Local Authority. This sport triggers adrenaline when the mistral wind blows in high speeds of 30-40 miles kite.


Kite surf is a combination of windsurfing, waterski, wakeboard and paragliding. It could, in a way, be the continuance of windsurfing. Kite surf can be performed easier than other watersports. You need about 2-3 hours with a trainer to learn the waterstart and begin to kitesurf. The equipment of kitesurf is small in size and weight.
